It's that time of year again... the temperatures are dropping, electric bills are rising and static-cling is the newest thing. Our hair is flat, our hands are scorched and our lips and cuticles are so cracked they have us looking like one of Michelangelo's statues from the Renaissance. Then somewhere between the first snow fall, a steamy sip of the Starbucks Winter Blend, the warmth of the fire and an embrace from a friend, we realize why we're here. We put our hair, skin and nails through torture, we tough it out and bare it all to get to those moments. But as for the moments in between, this season make every effort to.

Stay Bright

Play with color to make bright and bold statements. Fiery red was recently popular, but this winter is calling for auburn, burgundy and maroon hues. The key is mixing red and brown harmoniously for a natural finish.

Dear blondes, just because the "platinum" look goes into hibernation for the season, it doesn't mean you have to! Don't be afraid of integrating plenty of highlights into your natural base, especially around your face. Throw in a few extra lowlights for brilliant definition.

And don't forget that winter hair can dull easily; Moroccan Oil works for every hair type and leaves a glossy finish with full protection. It'll have you shining so bright that you'll give your Christmas lights a run for their money.

Stay Longer

From super straight to soft and wavy, long locks are in! This season, they can be spotted on celebs like Hilary Duff and Avril Lavigne, and are being piled into high beehives and tied into feminine milkmaid braids.

Don't have it? Fake it with Blameless Extensions by Manuela.

Stay Playful

Shorter hair is holding its own this season; try a side swept bob like Katie Holmes or a gradual bob like Victoria Beckham. The key to shorter hair, either sleek and sharp or definitely disheveled is keeping it playful with an "anything goes" attitude.

Stay Warm

Stay warmer than a cup of hot chocolate no matter the length of your hair, with scarves and hats to protect it from the harsh weather. Don't want to risk hat hair? Lock in moisture with Aquage Fortifying Ultra-gel.

Stay Strong

Bouncing from freezing temperatures to artificial heating, your hair is going to be taken for quite a ride. The most important thing about your hair is keeping it healthy this season. Our favorite? Aquage Sea Extend Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner are perfect for protecting and repairing brittle locks from the winter cold. This sulfate-free shampoo is designed to hydrate your hair without weighing it down. Have flat hair that needs a boost? Sea Extend Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner will do the trick! Throw in some Aquage Uplifting Foam after you towel dry and Voila! Hair so full that no weather or hat head could keep it down! To really pamper yourself this season, ask you stylist to add a conditioning treatment to your next service.

Stay Soft

This winter want hands that look and feel like a million bucks? Cashmere gloves can only take you so far... it's what lies beneath them that matters! The cold and moisture less air leaves your hands split and cracked. Keep them healthy and happy this season with regular manicures. Valeria, The Loft's manicurist suggests a manicure every two weeks. Her 45 minute service includes exfoliation, cuticle removal, massage and polish, bringing your cracked and dry hands miraculously back to life. Don't forget to moisturize in between appointments. Drop a travel size lotion into your purse. Try the rich and creamy Cuccio hand protection lotion which contains zinc oxide and comes in a 1oz formula, perfect for on the go!

Stay Kissable

Make up artist to celebs, The Loft Salon's Bre Welch just launched her new make-up line Framed , that carries just the thing to keep your lips ultra soft this winter. Juicy Lip Conditioner comes with an SPF of 15 and is packed with essential vitamins. Wear it solo or underneath a berry lip this season for a look that will definitely pull you closer.

Winter 2008, bring on the freezing temperatures and the overheated train rides! Pull on your cashmere and light up that fire. Stay Strong. Wait out the lines and send out the cards. Take it easy. Stay warm. Get closer. Take care of you. Don't worry about the "in-betweens". Come to the Loft, move from one good moment to another.
